1️⃣Scan the barcode. If you look at a bag of chips it will say the serving size at the top and then a weight in grams and/or ounces. Scan the barcode of the item into your app. Then turn on your food scale, place a bowl onto it, “tare” or “zero” it out, then pour the chips into the bowl until it reaches the gram amount as shown on the serving size. That’s your serving!

2️⃣If it doesn’t have a barcode, is there something similar you can look up in MFP? If you have an egg & bacon breakfast sandwich from a local shop you could either enter in the ingredients individually OR use a breakfast sandwich from a chain like Starbucks if it has similar ingredients.

3️⃣If it doesn’t have a barcode because it’s fresh produce such as broccoli that you’re about to cook, I recommend simply typing it into the search bar and then weighing out either 50, 100 or 150 grams to make it simple. Then WEIGH out that amount on your scale-that’s your serving size.

👉🏻This is THE most common mistake I see when clients start with me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤔Is it time consuming the first few weeks?
Absolutely!
💥Y’all know I tell it to ya straight.
But just like riding a bike or learning a new job: it gets easier!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I know, taking the time to weigh out your food seems annoying but it is the ONLY way to get to understand what macros are in what foods
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
& this leads to holding ourselves ACCOUNTABLE & being able to successfully lose weight 🙌🏻
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👀If you’re talking the time to enter things into your app to “track” already, they might as well be accurate, right?
