I got quite a lot of messages from my story today about putting my bathroom scale away…
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Questions about why, questions about reverse dieting/surplus macros, questions about for how long etc. (and I loved em! Keep em coming!)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
#1 our weight does NOT define us. If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the past several years it’s that scale weight and health are not the same thing. I generally gain a few lbs during these muscle building seasons & it comes back down a bit during a dieting season. I don’t need it as a unit of “data” during this season like I would when trying to lose weight so I put it away for now!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
#2 it comes down to our choices. Choosing to hit my macros and crush my workouts everyday is something that I do because I love it, not because I have to stay within some arbitrary range. Why do you eat healthier and exercise? If it’s to stay at a certain #, it’ll never last.

#3 in order to BUILD muscle, we simply HAVE to eat more (in a controlled way, not in a “F it” way). It is very difficult to build muscle in a deficit so if we TRULY want to change the shape of our bodies then we have to be at or above maintenance for a while and lift heavy & consistently.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I go through seasons of maintenance/surplus and calorie deficits to continue building my body and seeing it change season after season.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our bodies are incredible, capable machines and what a shame it would be to never see our full potential 🥰

Do you know what a reverse diet is or have you ever tracked at maintenance for a few months?
