AYYOOOO pass me the SALT 👀 Let’s talk sodium! (Aka salt aka sodi-YUM because I ❤️ salt)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
♻️Recommended daily amount: under 2300mg/day
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✅Sodium can get a bad rap BUT it is responsible for so many processes in the body such as as nerve transmission and muscle function!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✳️It also helps control the body’s acidity and absorption of some nutrients like glucose (sugar).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🍟Processed foods, NOT table salt is the greatest contributor of sodium to our diets. If you’re creating your own meals at home-don’t fear salt! The issue lies in the fast food/packaged food arena.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How it matters to YOU:🔻
1️⃣Decrease processed/packaged/fast foods in your diet.
2️⃣Increase your water intake. The kidneys hold on to the exact amount needed for your body so increasing your water intake will flush excess sodium out (which will decrease the “bloated” look too!)
3️⃣ Know your body! I have chronically low BP so a little more increased sodium for me isn’t bad but if you have high BP make sure you take notice of your amounts.
