I’ve told some of my clients we’re bringing them out of their deficit right now & focusing on maintenance bc it’s causing them more stress on their bodies than is needed during this time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
☝️But for SOME of them, right now they’re using the extra time they have to work towards specific weight loss goals in a POSITIVE way.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Reasons to NOT be in a deficit (now in this pandemic & normally):
❎aren’t getting 7-8 hours of sleep every night
❎have been in a deficit already for way too long without diet breaks
❎are eating less because they’re stressed
❎aren’t having rest days from formal exercise
❎aren’t in the right space mentally/have had disordered eating or exercising patterns previously that are resurfacing
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Reasons it’s OKAY to be in a deficit:
💛ARE getting adequate sleep
💛ARE prioritizing fiber & nutrients during their deficit
💛ARE only in a deficit for short periods throughout the year aka not dieting all of the time
💛ARE using positive coping mechanisms such as virtual therapy, journaling, meditation, etc.
💛ARE understanding that we need to come out of the deficit at some point to maintenance
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✅It’s okay if you want to focus on something OTHER than the virus & want to hold yourself accountable.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✅It’s okay if you are finding an inner strength you didn’t know you had during this time & using it in a POSITIVE manner.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🚫Understanding the difference between under eating in an unhealthy way causing MORE stress
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💯& being in a smart, controlled weight loss causing positive habit changes, increased confidence & a better understanding of YOUR body’s needs is key here.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💪🏻(& even if you’re NOT in a deficit, working on physical strength, enhancing proper form in exercises, having daily healthy movement, ensuring proper nutrient intake etc are all AMAZING goals to focus on too )
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
❣️There’s no “right way” to act right now, so reflect on what YOU NEED
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How are YOU feeling about this, after 2 weeks in isolation so far?
