Only eating too many TOTAL calories will cause weight gain.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🍌Carbs have 4 calories per gram.
🍗Protein has 4 calories per gram.
🥑Fats have 9 calories per gram.
🥂Alcohol has 7 calories per gram.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All FOUR of these macronutrients provide our body with energy (calories).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Removing an entire food group (carbs) CAN help with reducing the number of total calories which CAN aid in weight loss
BUT
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
❎it’s not sustainable
❎causes you to miss out on TONS of nutrients from carbohydrates such as fiber, thiamine, folate, vitamins A, E & B, calcium, magnesium, iron & potassium
❎can cause hormonal imbalances
❎can cause your workouts to suffer bc you’re body doesn’t have its preferred source of energy fueling it
❎can cause feelings of irritability, fatigue/tiredness, gut health issues etc.
❎cause fear-based issues with foods
❎won’t NECESSARILY lead to weight loss if cutting out carbs causes you to eat MORE fats & proteins to make up for the hunger
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉🏻Instead of “swearing off carbs”,
moderating our total daily caloric consumption from carbs, fats, proteins and alcohol is what will TRULY provide sustained weight loss.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So the next time you think about wanting to lose weight, please remember that it’s about total calorie intake-NOT just your carb intake.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🗣Who else is happy to hear that they don’t have to completely give up pasta? 😍
(we just have to stick to portion sizes!)
