The #1 BIGGEST misconception in weight-loss today:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When trying to lose weight, what’s the first thing you think of? I’m betting it’s cutting out carbs, right?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The ISSUE is that mostttt of the carbs you’re probably eating are also LOADED with fats.
So the issue isn’t carbs THEMSELVES, it’s that:
the carbs + the fats = tons of calories.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let’s look at a list of foods that have BOTH
*carbs + fats (& protein)* making it high CALORIE:
🔸Bagel + cream cheese
🔸French fries
🔸Cheeseburgers
🔸Tacos
🔸Pizza
🔸Breakfast sandwiches
🔸Ice cream
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Does that list sound pretty familiar?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now let’s look at a list of *CARBS ONLY*:
🌟Potatoes (not fried)
🌟Apples
🌟Raspberries
🌟Green/red/orange peppers
🌟Rice
🌟Oats
🌟Squash
🌟Bread
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤔 none of these carb only sources are typically super high calorie.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
…see what I’m getting at here?
🧜🏻♀️It’s not the carbs that are the issue,
it’s the total calories that are the issue when trying to lose weight.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Taking the bun off of a cheeseburger with a side of fries will still result in a very high fat (high calorie) meal 🤷🏼♀️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Language is important. “Cutting carbs” without keeping total calories in check (or understanding what foods have carbs, fats or proteins in them) just typically leads to a negative relationship with food AND doesn’t necessarily = weight loss which causes frustration & plateaus 🙅🏼♀️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🍕Now, can we never have pizza or tacos etc ever again?
Absolutely not!
🥗We just have to balance those things with more lean proteins & fruits & veggies to have a more well rounded calorie & nutrient intake for optimal results.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👯♀️Tag a friend who needs to hear this.
Friends don’t let friends “cut out all carbs”.
