The language we use matters.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Marketing tactics are used against us every day in the nutrition and fitness industry to prey on our confusion.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Buzz words like
-superfood
-all natural
-artificial
-sugar free
-gluten
-natural
-healthy
Etc etc
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can’t tell you how many people tell me peanut butter is “healthy”.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To be honest-its not. Yes, NUTS are a good source of heart healthy fats but nut butter is typically full of sugar, additives and high calorie.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Don’t get me wrong-I eat PB daily 🤤 & LOVE it
-but it’s important to understand that it’s not exactly “healthy”.
I utilize the 80/20 rule when it comes to macros-MOST of my meals are whole foods 20% comes from things like PB, cereal, chocolate etc to maintain sustainability 🙌🏻
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💡Learning macros helps us understand our food labels and helps us get rid of “good” versus “bad” labels and allows us to see food for what it truly is.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💁🏼♀️Most people would look at these 2 products and immediately say the cookie butter is “unhealthy”-but when you look at the nutrition facts it’s the exact same calories & similar macro breakdown.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🙅🏼♀️Let’s work on getting rid of harmful language when it comes to foods and look more at the BASICS.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is exactly why I love tracking macros-it gives us knowledge to be an informed consumer & not fall victim to clever marketing.

🍪Have you tried that cookie butter yet?! Sooo good but very sweet 🙃
